Map Room

Deery added this section around 1810 where he operated a Post Office as well as his stage wagon run between Abingdon and the Netherland Inn at the ‘boatyard’ (Kingsport). Travelers or locals could purchase supplies in his store as well as meals in the tavern and even rent a bed for the night.  The store of the day is currently called the Map Room, displaying an 1850’s map of India. One is able imagine supplies being pulled through the large trap door leading from this room to the cellar.
